Hi, I’m Kristen.

I’m a wife – married for twenty-six years.

I’m a mom of three daughters – two adults (one who just went off to college) and one high schooler.

I’m an Administrative Assistant at a Christian school.

Blogging and podcasting is something that I am getting back to doing.

Give me a lobster roll, a Coke Zero, a square of dark chocolate, a book, a cat, and my toes in the sand and that is my “happy place.”

I almost called this blog “Faith Pendulum,” but that gives the connotation of the whole entire faith moving from one side to another. That could give the wrong idea that I have had faulty ideas of the faith (Christianity, salvation, etc.) – possibly “progressive Christianity,” New Age-y, or heretical that distort the essential foundations of Christianity that need to be believed to be truly saved.

Instead, I went with an anchor. The foundations and beliefs of my faith, which are Biblical truths – the essentials of the faith – have not ever changed. They have been rock solid and anchored in Christ.

What has changed and vacillated over time are the secondary, tertiary, and other tier issues of the faith. That includes some issues of soteriology, ecclesiology, eschatology, and philosophy and types of churches and their traditions and practices. What I mean is that I started off for many years as a “plain vanilla” Christian. But in an effort to get closer to God, went into charismatic churches and had the whole experience that way. Then in an effort to move out of that, went full-on into Reformed theology. Now I’ve come out of that and am back to my original “plain vanilla” Christianity.

My journey out of Reformed theology could possibly have been labeled as deconstruction by today’s trends. Essentially, I was deconstructing Reformed theology, not my faith. Ironically, I would say I was reforming (lower case “r”), but reforming away from Reformed theology. Since I knew I meant something different by deconstruction than the way everyone else is currently using it, I resisted using that word.

One goal is that the posts here on Anchored Faith will trace my journey through “charismania” and Reformed theology back to “plain vanilla” Christianity. I hope to share a lot of things I’ve learned, ways I’ve grown, why I believe what I believe, and explain the nuances of different aspects of theology. My hope and prayer is that it might help other Christians, seekers, or those who might not realize some points of the stream of Christianity they are part of and give them the information they need to come to their own conclusions.

I intend to use this platform as a way to share the Gospel, good news and pray that people come to true salvation. This is a ministry and blogging/podcasting has been something on my heart for some time. I have “dabbled” in starting other blogs/podcasts but I think I had to go through certain things and grow to a certain point…but of course, still growing, learning, and loving.
